Summer Sonic

So I went to this convert festival called Summer Sonic last weekend.

The lineup I saw:
OK GO (surprisingly awesome band)
The Editors
MXPX
Interpol (fell asleep during them, but they were good)
Modest Mouse (always the best at concerts I attend)
Gwen Stefanie
Travis (came out to the Rocky theme song)

Bands I didn't get to see but wanted to:
Avril Lavine
Black Eyed Peas
Polyphonic Spree
Fall out boy
Bright Eyes
Artic Monkeys

Here are some video's from the MXPX concert. About 10,000 Japanese teenagers and me. Oh well it reminded me of my punk rock days so I went along with it.

A picture of the festival. The festival proved to me that Japan is in fact a Utopian Society. No fighting, no massive amounts of drugs being taken. Just a group of friendly cordial people enjoying some music. Actually maybe that took some of the excitement out of it honestly

If you ever feel like Japan has too much influence on America by their domination of the electronics industry and how about50% of cars in America are Japanese...

Remember this: here is a concert being held between two baseball stadiums, with approximately 100 bands, 80% of which are from the USA, the rest from Canada or the UK, the entire crowd is wearing English t-shirts (mostly incoherent Engrish) and eating hot dogs and freedom fries.

Points is; we both have a lot of influence on each other. Japan more industrially, America more culturally. Regardless I think its great that Japan and American relations appear to be at an all time high.

So maybe its time the US government quit passing laws about how Japan needs to apologize for the comfort women of WW2. (http://www.japantoday.com/jp/news/413654/all did anyone else hear about this?)

This is a trash burning plant. So back int he 90's Japan had so much money they just started wasting it. In turn they decided to build the plant to look cool and modern so it wasn't an eye sore.

The main stage with Gwen Stefanie.

Me and my student Ryoichi at Travis.

wow. maybe because of your previous concert experience- i was expecting everyone to be silent again. but they rocked out pretty nicely.

So seriously- at a concert that huge, you saw no drugs whatsoever? That is actually amazing.

Glad you are still having such a good time!

Kate, you win the award for most blog postings ever.

Chad, thanks for bringing the videos back. I suggest a shortfilm where you cast a few of your students... possibily a sci-fi horror?

Hey blondie, how about you leave another comment?

Chad you look like a hawk in that kimono!!! No but seriously you kind of remind me of Daniel-san when he goes with Miyagi over to Okinowa.
