Last weekend I went hiking out in north Kyoto. I bought a book called hiking in Japan when I first moved here. This is the last day hike in Kansai that I hadn't done.
So I woke up with nothing to do on Monday, and decided to go out for a day hike. I love that I live in a place where I say "I wanna go hiking today" and be in the mountains in 1 hour. I think its a requirement for my places of residence in the future.
This is a place called Ohara 大原.
Its a small little farming town in a valley.
Sorry the pictures are out of order.
After the hike I found this field of flowers.

Looking down on Ohara.

Me at the top. Sporting my new rolled up jeans look due to the mud. About 2000 ft above sea level.

Some Cherry Blossoms. In some of the pictures you can see them growing wild on the side of the mountain. Kind of sad to think this might be my last cherry blossom season.

Texas Bluebonnets? Reminds me of home.

An old thatched roof style house.

Self portrait

If it wasn't for the hazy days of spring that would be a great view over the whole city of Kyoto.
